ABOUT
Born and raised in Southern California, I spent the majority of my upbringing performing on stage. My love for the arts began with acting classes at an early age at The South Coast Repertory Theatre eventually leading to a Musical Theatre major at The Orange County High School of the Arts. Interests in the performing arts, led to set design, which later developed into a passion for all mediums of visual art.
Before my Project Manager role at The Student Union Galleries (SUGs+Projects) at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I worked for a diverse group of organizations including The National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC, Dreamworks Animation in Glendale CA, and The FUNDRED Dollar Bill Project in Pittsburgh PA.
A strong believer in community service and social practice, I served three years as an active mentor with the Charlotte Mecklenberg School District and has dedicated my time as a volunteer at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival, the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, Presbyterian Hospital, Carnegie Mellon Admission Council (CMAC), and The Wells Fargo PGA tour.
I received her BFA in Painting, Drawing and Printmaking from Carnegie Mellon University in 2009. Often, my artwork questions the possibility of finding a perfect personal balance and explores opposing ideas and concepts about race, identity and culture through both the literal and the metaphorical. As the SAIC Dean’s Scholarship recipient, I am currently a Master’s Candidate in the Arts Administration and Policy Management Program, expected to graduate Spring 2016. I am extremely grateful for any opportunity to maintain a healthy balance between my left and right brain.
